“Soulstar, oh you’ve come

So far

From where you started

Don’t be afraid

To let your light

shine on the world”

Although you may feel like you haven’t gotten to where you should be, I encourage you to meditate on these lyrics. You have come so far from where you’ve started.

I listen to this song almost every day. I am always obsessing about reaching the finish line instead of acknowledging how far I have come. Much of my anxiety comes from worrying about all of the things about myself that I could be improving.

I have news for you. Worrying about where you should be will not get you there.

However, being grateful for the progress you’ve made thus far will give you confidence and perseverance. Once you choose to acknowledge all of the things you have overcome to exist at this very moment, you will not allow similar situations to make you lose control.

Accept where you are now.

Whether you went from:

    • not knowing what was even wrong to getting an actual diagnosis or
    • from being in a toxic relationship to realizing your worth or
    • from daily breakdowns or panic attacks to less frequent episodes…you have made progress!

Sometimes, when you are trying to heal and move on from trauma by facing it head-on, it can actually seem like you are moving backward or at least remaining stagnant.

But you are not.

Healing is a process and your “shoulds” really have no hold here. You cannot control when you get better or when you reach stability. That is something you have to let go of so that you can become the person you were truly meant to be.

Enjoy the journey instead of obsessing over the end goal. You cannot go from start to finish in one day. Even if you could, you wouldn’t learn any valuable information or grow from it. This process is not about your pride, but rather your humility. Give your pain a purpose. Don’t wallow in it or hide from the world.

Let your light shine.

You have a unique story to tell and it may illuminate others to tell theirs. Sometimes, we can be so afraid of judgment that we keep all of our pain bottled in. We suffer in silence. I don’t see any benefit in that.

There’s a very high probability that you aren’t the only one suffering from a particular thing. Even if their entire history doesn’t match up with yours, you could possibly be their catalyst for self-love, healing, and enlightenment.

Hello! What is one way you've let your light shine in the past 30 days? We'd love to read about how you empower yourself! Please feel free to comment below. Thank you in advance for sharing.
