Self-acceptance is an art through which a person can learn to accept oneself. Accepting all the flaws, imperfections, and liked qualities, exposing oneself to the world. The Art of Self-Acceptance teaches us to live in the world with peace, emotional and social health, and love. Accepting the wholeness of you; all the physical and mental stages that you are, have, and will become.

We all go through times where we face the worst of circumstances or the joys of a great and rewarding day. For example, a person who is fat may face a lot of body shaming, or a girl or boy who has bad skin may hear a lot of negative comments about their appearance, in turn, causing them to lose the sense of self-acceptance and desire to love themselves. On the other side of life, a person who just received an acceptance letter into the college of their choice may be celebrated by family and friends. Or a person who just received a second promotion at their job may feel the world is filled with endless opportunity and promise. Yet, the same two people may find themselves later feeling that they cannot measure up to the responsibilities, or they are not good enough for the opportunities.

No matter which side of life your life is currently on, the worst of circumstances or the joys of great and rewarding days—there is always room to Love Yourself More. Let’s discuss some of the ways all of us can start accepting and loving ourselves more:

1. Stop caring about what others say or think about you.

Yes, when it comes to appearance and other things in our lives, there may be room for improvement. With that said, your body, voice, and personality are given to you at birth. It's what makes you uniquely and perfectly you. You do not need to beat yourself up or tear yourself down due to how you look and what others say about you. Instead, enjoy being yourself and feel free and comfortable in your skin, physical appearance, the sound of your voice, and your quirky personality.

Remember: It's okay to be Different, Unique, YOU! And it's okay to Love Yourself More at the same time.

2. Fight your fears and insecurities with positive acceptance and love.

Fears and insecurities are part of every person. They have a huge role in making us weak and doubtful of ourselves and our life's direction. And your insecurities can create barriers or bring chaos to your relationships as well as trust issues. All of which are stifling and unhealthy when it comes to Loving Yourself More and The Art of Self-Acceptance.

When you boldly identify and accept all of your insecurities and fears, your intentional actions create a significant starting point for you to improve on The Art of Self-Acceptance. Start working to untie the knots(R) of your insecurities and fears, and later you will find yourself getting over them, and the sudden surges of self-love will begin to show up all around you.

From this day forward, commit to fighting all of your fears and insecurities with positive acceptance and love—and everything will be okay because you've created room to start loving you in a more significant way.

3. Stop making comparisons.

Stop comparing yourself with others because once you start looking at others and seeing what they have and you do not have, the feeling of guilt and falling short begins to erode your inner core. This mindset and behavior destroys your inner peace and makes you feel down on yourself and your life's achievements.

We are all different. Try more smiling and less worrying. Dare to be the best version of you. Start by liking, loving, and accepting you more!

4. Get out and travel more.

When we struggle with self-love and self-acceptance, it often forces and causes us to stay inside. On the day and date of your birth, you were presented as a gift to the world. Today, I am encouraging you to make it your purpose and mission to get out and travel more. Travel alone if you have to. Traveling allows you to see the world, breathe the outside air, explore exciting things, and to reflect and get to know you. It gives you a certain amount of time to work on your social, physical, and mental health while enjoying nature, people, scenery, and more.

Give yourself the time you've earned and deserve! Increase your getting out and traveling more time starting this weekend.

As I conclude this article, remember and embrace three facts moving forward:

Fact 1: Self-love is a practice. Put yourself on your schedule every day because you are important too. Work daily on your development of Loving Yourself More and The Art of Self-Acceptance.

Fact 2: Self-love is a journey. No one starts life with perfect self-love or self-acceptance. Accept your journey without hesitation. Commit to your journey without distraction or disruption. Believe with all of your heart that you and your daily journey is worth it!

Fact 3: Self-love is not selfish. When you love yourself, the ripples you create touch, inspire and help others to do the same. You're able to pour into others from a full bucket, without hesitation or the fear of depletion. You also model healthy self-love and self-acceptance, which shows you ultimately have chosen to walk by faith throughout your journey.
