Are you happily single? Or have you put your life on hold until you are in "The Right Man" or "The Right Woman" relationship?

Nancy Mramor, Ph.D., a Pittsburgh psychologist who leads workshops on achieving happiness, says, "Everyone should have a place where you can go to feel safe and happy."

Each year, Valentine's Day is commercialized and celebrated all over the world. Couples and teenagers celebrate this day to express their love to their loved ones. Most of the time, single people find themselves alone and uncertain of how and what to plan to do on Valentine’s Day.

If you are single on Valentine's Day, how about doing something special for yourself on that day? Then do the same every day going forward. Here are 11 active and fun ideas you can use to celebrate Valentine’s Day as a happily single.

Order and send yourself fresh, beautiful flowers.

My grandmother told and taught me early in life, "The best time to receive flowers is when you're still alive." Yes, you're single and still alive. Flowers will look good on your dining room table or desk at work. So, order yourself some fresh, beautiful flowers and keep on living!

Gather with your friends.

Gathering your single friends on Valentine’s Day is always a good idea. You can book movie tickets, meet up at a fun-filled Happy Hour, or watch good movies at a friend's home.

Schedule and have a spa day.

Self-pampering and self-care is always a great idea. You've earned it and deserve it.

Go shopping.

Go out shopping and enjoy the different sales. Make sure you also pick-up something for future stylish days or evenings out.

Hit the Gym.

On Valentine's Day, eat healthily and go to the gym. Spend some time with yourself and workout vigorously. Work up a nice sweat, burn, and have an awesome workout.

Try a new recipe.

Break out your pots and pans to be active and creative in the kitchen. It does not matter if it's cooking, baking, or both. Just have fun, and look forward to devouring your delicious food later.

Start a new book or audiobook.

Spending time while reading is always a great idea because the more you gain knowledge, the more you will learn and allow yourself to experience and travel to a whole new world.

Visit a good café.

If you do not like the company of a lot of people talking to you, take yourself out on a coffee date and have a great time in a café with the smell of coffee beans and a peaceful environment.

Plan a movie marathon night.

Valentine's Day is the perfect day to start and enjoy an ultimate movie marathon night on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. Create a list of movies you've meant to watch, pop some popcorn, and let the movie list flow.

Find and go to karaoke night.

They say laughter and music heals and extends your quality of life. Google and find a restaurant or venue in your local community that's having a karaoke night on Valentine's Day. Arrive early and request to sing more than once if you can. Sing and have lots of fun.

Throw a For Singles Only Valentine's Day Party.

Invite your single friends over to your home or a safe and selected location for a For Singles Only Valentine's Day Party. Have fantastic music, dancing, food, drinks, and good conversation! Just because you all are single does not mean you cannot celebrate Valentine's Day and be one another's best cheerful company.

Always remember — you can choose to be happy, with or without a partner. More importantly, remember what truly matters all year-round and not just on Valentine's Day – Self-Love and Choosing to Live Your Best Life!
